Mount Evans

Colorado Tour In Russian or English: Tour of Mt. Evans in Russian

or English languages.

" Better than the mountains could be only mountains where you haven't been yet. " These were the words of the famous Russian bard Vysotskiy.

I would like to invite you to take an unforgettable trip to the top of Mt. Evans. The height of it is 14,260 feet, and it is one of our fourteeners. The road to the top of the mountain is considered to be the highest paved road in North America. The views on the way up are spectacular, and you can stand on the summit and see 360 degrees. If we are lucky, we will also see marmots and mountain goats. On the way down we will stop to walk among a grove of bristlecone pine trees, which are some of the oldest living things on earth. They are about 2.500 years old. In the second part of the day, we'll visit Georgetown, which was founded by the gold miners in the 19th century. Later on, it became more known as a silver mining town. The city grew very quickly and soon the Hotel De Paris was built there. We will tour this hotel and we'll hear the unusual story of its original owner. After that, we'll also visit one of the town's largest houses, the Hamill House Museum, which dates back to the same era. You will also have plenty of time to walk along the streets of Georgetown and buy some souvenirs. This tour can be done only during summertime from Memorial Day till Labor Day, since from September till the end of May winter weather keeps the road to Mt. Evans closed.
